Howdy animal friends 👋 🤠
First off — THANK YOU, to those of you who have been reading through these public diaries of mine. I appreciate the opportunity to build a history of connection with you. Maybe you think I’m bat-shit-crazy, and that’s okay. It will get crazier, and if you’ve stayed with me so far, I think you’ll enjoy the show🍿. Some of you have responded to my emails sharing your joy of connecting through this medium — but I would like to hear from more of you! 🙏 What is it that keeps you opening these emails? Do you know anyone else who would be interested to join the ranks? I’m looking to grow engagement and readers on this list. I need your help!
I’ve got a few pieces of art on deck that I will be dropping soon. As you may have picked up by now, ART is a rather all-encompassing thing for me that is well beyond the process of image making. It includes writing, doing, and being, among other mediums — including expression through currency choices.
The challenge for me is often an ‘order of operations’ thing, and having to navigate the depths of my soul to feel for what to bring forth next. Anyone interested in helping me out, for the betterment of all Anml’s?
Anml Recap
As a digital artist, I knew I had to start exploring the frontier of digital art and community building around the art — and it was clear to me that this frontier is through NFTs. When I first dove into researching and speculating in the cryptocurrency sphere in 2017, I perceived that the concept of ‘decentralization’ was a sort of technological salvation from an overtly centralized society driven by those who control the printing of money. Of course, now, those who control the printing of money are also accumulating cryptocurrency, and I don’t claim to have a great pulse on how centralized or decentralized each various blockchain and cryptocurrency may be. Though I do have some advisors who have more studied perceptions on that.
I understand that Ethereum has just this past week made its transition to becoming ‘proof of stake’ rather than the energy intensive ‘proof of work’ model pioneered by Bitcoin. Congrats to Ethereum to being one step closer to Algorand 😆 🎉.
It’s not that I’m anti-ethereum or anything. In fact, I have a real appreciation for those who have pioneered an allegedly decentralized global computer and currency system. The concept of ‘Ethereum’ and smart contract blockchains is still such an abstracted, amorphous concept, I can totally relate to anyone who feels a sense of inadequate knowledge about what this whole ‘web 3’ revolution is and how to engage. I feel the same at times. Personally, I find the discussion of ‘layer 2 scaling solutions’ that the exorbitant cost of Ethereum transactions has necessitated, to be a bit irritating and a turn off for me. It is total geek speak, and it’s not for everyone. In order for real adoption to occur, the process must be simple. I prefer my blockchains to have one layer, rather than a series of hoops to jump through to transact efficiently. That is why Anml NFTs and the Anml token exists on the ever-performant Algorand blockchain.
I enjoy the process of exploration and learning by doing. It’s really the only way while at the forefront of this moment of time where everything on earth is changing. Best I can tell, the choice to use Algorand for this future of finance / future of work / future of art / future of education / future of voting / etc, etc was a great choice. FIFA, the world governing body for professional soccer — the worlds most popular sport with billions of fans, agrees (to name just one). Algorand aficionados are well familiar with Algoexplorer, but I understand that comprises a minority of people on this email list. You can find the Anml token on Algoexplorer here, but I’ve included some screenshots at the time of this writing right here for you.
ANML utility
The original utility for me with ANML was to create a reward mechanism for supporters of my artwork. At it’s genesis, I created it as a way to begin to organize and incentivize engagement and contribution to the 11:11 for Change NFT project collaboration with Martin Geddes. Due to the lack of DAO infrastructure at this early stage of the life of Algorand, efforts at organizing a collective ‘decentralized’ effort have been in a bit of a holding pattern. I expect this will change. Maybe someone reading this can update me if great DAO tooling has been born on Algorand? 🙏
I am also now considering integrating a utility for ANML over at Behere : ) No official announcements just yet.
ANML Areas of Interest!?
Like every genuine artist, I have been following my muses to lead the way in what I write, draw, design, voice, and express through various mediums of art. This collection has become a catch-all for my artistic creations, with intent to expand this well and truly beyond me. Decentralization is hard. Or Maybe a myth, or something that happens in more evolved places, but not on earth. But it’s worth a shot. This is an experiment, and YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED TO ENHANCE IT! 🙏
What would you like to see more of ? Less of ? What may thrust this moonly experiment to the next stage in an expanded existence in the quest to promote equality for all animals?
